About Simon Rigby

For the early part of my life I was a professional musician in South Australia as well as an educator in music and technology. Programming has been a passion for many years, and after a move to London in 1999, I worked as a free-lancer in various IT and non-IT related areas, including managing examinations for an international music examinations board and converting paper-based greeting cards to digital versions for the developing 'e-card' industry. I began full-time work in London as a junior developer at a multi-national transport consultancy. In my four years at the company I worked on such diverse aspects of the business as the public website, an internal knoweldge management system and client projects. When I left to go freelance in 2003 I was heading up a small team of developers at the company.

I moved to Scotland in 2003 and continued working as a contractor to other IT providers, online and bricks and mortar retail outlets, legal institutes and social and sporting clubs. I moved back to the south of England in 2008 and worked for various web start-ups and contracted to other IT providers. The end clients in this case included a major international bank and a London based legal firm.

My skill set is diverse, and this stems from the types of contract work I have been engaged in over the last 15 years. I have skills that encompass, database design, web development, online applications servicing hundreds of concurrent users and all points in between.

I keep abreast of the latest technologies and developments and have a distinct skill for absorbing technologies and working methods quickly and thoroughly. Efficient as a lone developer or member of a team, I relish the curly problem or unchartered territory.
